Very few of us still own the car we went to high school in and more often than not it was some beater we have fond memories of and are glad to be rid of when it’s all over. For Jon Bitler it’s a different story entirely, as his high school car was his dream car, a 1969 Nova. I have known Jon since the early 90’s when his father Don would come out to the car show and late night street scene – his young son in tow with his own 1968 big block Nova. So it’s no surprise he followed in his father’s footsteps and got a Nova of his own the first chance he got

After attending the same high school, and working in the same corporate office for twenty years at Eckerd Drugs Joe Duncan and Robin Horn finally got together and started dating just six months before the company closed it’s doors. The couple married on November 22, 2008 with Joe now working as a fraud investigator in Tampa, Florida and racing together with a pair of old school Chevy Nova’s.

After traveling with the Fun Ford circuit for several years in the mid late nineties Gary and Kenny Markwich, then just seventeen, decided to take some time off to regroup. First step was a job for Kenny, who went back to school and became a Paramedic/Firefighter, certainly a respectable career by any one’s standards. Once he was established in the field the racing urge began to take hold again and the rise in popularity of Drag Radial locally including the Orlando World Street Finals had Kenny eyeing the class, due in no small part to his friend and fellow racer Will Stevenson who already had a car under way.

During Wednesday's TNT session there was a stunt rider practicing on the motorcycle track so I took some shots of that as well. Pretty cool stuff.

We are here at Virginia Motorsports Park for the third event of 2010 for the ADRL Speedtech US Drags III. Round one qualifying begins at 11 AM today with subsequent sessions at 2 PM and 5 PM. Also some big news including a new sponsor debut with Fightmemma.com for Joshua Hernandez.

Sunshine Dragstrip on May 12, 2010 with feature a Six Oh index class, Grudge racing and a test and tune session. RMP Automotive and K&R Automotive have come on board to help sponsor the purse for the Six Oh class with $ 100 each. The first qualifying session is scheduled for 6:30 PM. Class rules are below.

Currently we are going to refund non qualified cars half the tech card fee. Also a reminder the purse is 100% payout. Todd is giving us a venue to try out some different ideas and we will see what works and what does'nt so please come out to support us, and don;t forget to support the business that supports racers.

Class Description - Designed for door cars or trucks running a 6.00 index on a .400 tree. Class will run an 8 car qualified field on a pro ladder. Courtesy staging & Auto Start will be in effect. Bye runs - all vehicles must take the tree and run down the track. Racers are allowed a one race waiver for cosmetic/non performance rule infractions.

Interior - All cars are required to have a stock appearing dash, steering column, and both front seats in the stock location. The rear seat is optional.

Body - Any vehicle from any major manufacturer is allowed. Car must be street appearing. No full fibreglass / carbon fibre bodies unless equipped from the factory. No 1 piece front ends. All cars are required to have functioning headlights & taillights. Firewall must be in stock location. Smoothing of firewall for appearance is allowed. Minor notching for clearance is allowed. Motor plates or solid mounts are allowed.

Chassis -All entries required to have a chassis capable of certifying to a minimum of 8.50 or slower. Stock front suspension and frame rails are required and must be in the stock location. Back half with ladder bars or 4-link OK. Any tire allowed. No tube chassis cars allowed.

Engine -Any engine combination, power adders, and fuel are allowed except nitro methane. Engine must be in stock location.

Electrical -Throttle stop must be fully disconnected from pneumatic or electrical source and throttle stop blades must be fixed. Optical sensors are prohibited. All cars are required to have a working rear taillight. Delay boxes must be disconnected. Progressive controller, RPM switch or digi-set timers allowed for nitrous activation only.

Sponsorship Decals & Lettering - Decals and lettering is restricted to windows and quarter panels. All cars required to have identifying number posted on front and side windows.

Disqualification - Disqualification will occur in the event of: Running under the 6.00 index, crossing the centerline, or use of prohibited equipment (optical sensors, throttle stops, etc.) In the event of a disqualification, competitor will receive no points for the disqualified pass. NHRA safety rules apply. All decisions from track personnel are final.

Wednesday May 5th we had some grudge racing go down as a primer for the upcoming May 12th Six Oh index and Grudge racing. Walker's camp walked away with over 10,000 after giving up two cars and the hit to the Chevelle. We have some sponsors lined up for the Six Oh class. More information will be posted later today ..

Today we are in south Georgia for the kick off Boost vs. No Boost ORTC event of 2010 where radial cars come from across the country come for a shot at the biggest purse in the land. Starting with Thursday’s test session, we will be here providing same day coverage for all classes including the wild wheel-standing Ultimate Street class and the insane speeds of the boosted cars. There will be 6.00 index class at Sunshine Dragstrip on Wednesday May 12th. There will be two qualifying sessions with the first round at 6:30 PM, round two will be at 7:30 PM, times are approximate. Eliminations should start about 8:30. At this time the class with run an 8 car qualified field with a $50 tech card. Purse will be 100% payout, 70%-30% split for winner and runner up, semi’s $50.00. This class is designed with the idea of street looking cars with limited lettering/decals and these are the preliminary rules adapted from last years ORSCA rules and the ODRA with some minor modifications, some of which were discussed at the divers meeting we had last week. Racer turnout and input will be taken into consideration for any future changes, just please keep in mind the intent and direction we would like this to go. In keeping with the 6.50 and 7.50 index classes already run at Sunshine this is an effort to open up the rules a bit to allow some backhalf cars a place to come race and have some fun. I encourage interested parties to join up on Mafia Motorsports forum for discussion of the class rules and racing.

This is the second race of the year for the ADRL as they move to Georgia at South Georgia Motorsports Park. The first event was a rain out on Saturday and hopefully the rain will hold off this weekend for some great racing. Dragzine goes to Georgia to bring you live coverage of the Night the Lights Went Out ORTC race at SGMP. Begining with Thursdays test session through Saturday�s no holds barred action. Drag Radial, Limited Street and Texas True Ten Five, wheelie bars and all mix it up for a shot at $20,000. Several cars have tested recently in the low 4.6 range with David Wolfe out testing a new engine combo on site Wednesday to the tune of 4.61. Weather forecasts highs in the high 50�s, just right for record setting perforance.

Nitrous Chevelle Project breaks into the 5�s

With a new TRZ suspension installed and larger -6 feed line for the nitrous, it was time to take the Chevelle Project back to the track. This would be the first license runs after the new NHRA certified cage updates were made. After switching the tired slicks over to some drag radials, the Chevelle was able to run a new best time of 5.93 @ 113.09 mph. Come check out the videos of the runs inside at the new Dragzine.com.

The Night the Lights Went out in Georgia February 25-27 2010 at South Georgia Motorsports Park If you�re not there, you�re just plain scared.

After the racing season is over, everyone from jet trucks to drag radial cars head to the Snowbird Nationals in Bradenton Florida for their once a year race. This race is purely for cash and bragging rights. This year, the ORTC has joined up with BMP to bring an even larger drag radial class!

Old suspensions just aren�t the best when it comes to adding big power. The more power you add and the harder you try to launch, the more that torque wants to twist the chassis. Case in point, our peg-legging Chevelle. We are hoping to get the Chevelle launching straight with faster 60-foots with some help from TRZ and their twenty-first century suspension components.

With only two races left in the 09 Heads Up Madness Series, there were some shakeups in points, which should make for some interesting races in several classes at the November race.

This month's race was plagued by unseasonably hot weather for October, with track temperatures right at 117 degrees at start time. There was also an unusual amount of attrition, with several cars being pushed back or just plain not making the call.

Well I am up here in Alabama yet again covering the second UORS Pilot race. Got some nice cars here on Friday night with first round qualifying set to start at 9PM Central time. Qualifying is at 1:00 and 4:00 PM Central with elims to start about 7:00 PM

True Street competitor Blair Brannock has been working on this project for a little over a year. Originally conceived as a Drag Radial car and then �toned down a bit� for True Street racing. The E-Bay buy came with a good clean body and engine that was set up to run on nitrous. All the rest (seats, rear end, transmission, etc) was sold or traded off to fund the transformation. On Fathers Day weekend Brothers Powder Coating held their first annual Motor Fest community appreciation day. They event raised money for several charities and disadvantaged youth as well as the Angelus House. There are about 300 photos in the gallery including the bikes in the show, stunt riding expo dyno drags and general happenings. Be sure to check out Brothers for you powder coating needs. Full Throttle magazine add Born to Ride TV were on hand as well to document the festivities.

A fellow racer and friend Enrique Pirez lost his son Kevin the other day. Eric Kenward and John Sears started a memorial fund to help out the family. Below is a message from Eric.

John Sears and I were talking this morning and have decided to put a memorial fund together for Enrique and his family.
Enrique is one of the best guys I have ever met, his family is awesome, great wife and two beautiful daughter. My family is there for you guys any day any time for anything!!!

Last Friday March 20th was the most recent Fast Friday at Sunshine Dragstrip. The Fast Friday format features grudge racing, regular test n tune and an Arm Drop Quick 8. I went down to catch some of the action and hang out with my Mafia-Motorsports brothers and sisters. Check out the thread HERE.

The Inaugural Door Car Clash at Immokalee Regional Raceway will host their first race April 11th 2009 and is set to feature Real Street and a new class, Outlaw 632. This new class is limited to 632 ci engines or smaller in nitrous assisted or naturally aspirated door cars combinations only. Racers are allowed any size tire and any chassis with a minimum weight of 3,000 pounds. Real Street will also be contested at this event. Please check back for more information as it becomes available.

Recently TRZ Motorsports had come on board as a site sponser and now we are getting down to business. They hooked me up with their full rear suspension kit for A Bodies, which includes upper and lower control arms, spherical housing bushings and an anti roll bar. Below are some before and after pics and a link to a few more on Need2Speed.com in a thread I started there. I have a lot to do before testing this out at the Need2Speed.com Dead Hookers 9 at Bradenton Saturday. This event should be a very good time.

Todd from TRZ Motorsports is coming out to lend a hand tuning my car as well as Ritchi "High PSI" Balcom's TT SBC Buick Regal. My friend Blair will be there testing out his 950 + RWHP turbo Mustang that will be raced in the NMCA/NMRA True Street class and there will likely be the first 8 second New Gen GTO pass in history. Going down to the new Palm Beach International Raceway tomorrow for the Ultimate Shootout on Saturday. I will be covering the event for Street Legal TV. Classes are Outlaw 10.5, Stock Suspension/Drag Radial, Pro 16, Real Street, 6.50 and 5.50 index and Box and no Box bracket racing.

A special feature scheduled for Friday night is a $$ grudge $$ race between Tony Ridenour and Mike Stavrinos. Yes you read that right Mike and Tony are going at it with Tony getting the back tire and the hit. For those of you who don't know Mike Stavrinos runs the Speed and Truck World OL 10.5 Corvette and Tony has a F3 Procharged 4th Gen Camaroon alcohol and runs Drag Radial. This will be a VERY interesting matchup.

This Saturday February 7th is the First Heads Up Madness for 2009 at Sunshine Drag Strip. Come on out for the action, gates at 2:00 PM Also don't forget Friday night is Heads Up testing for 6-10 PM.

US Street nationals Drag Radial Qualifying and Eliminations Video. This video features exclusive "fender cam" footage shot with the Go pro camera. Gotta thank Eddie Miller at The Engine Works (ph. 772-380-9111) for the camera, and the help with placing the cameras. Ride along with Tony Ridenour, Troy Pirez Sr. and Will Stevenson during eliminations.

Ok one more thing today. I have been asked recently about having a for sale section here on the website. So I spoke with some members of the family over at Mafia Motorsports and we are going to feature the Swap Meet Section here on Devastation Motorsports. Sign up and buy, sell or trade parts. During the test session today before the US Nationals at Bradenton Motorsports Park David Hance reset both ends of the Drag Radial � mile record running 7.05 @ 223 and later a 7.10 @ 221. Congrats David !!

The Murray�s Speed and Custom second annual Tomato Nationals at Immokalee Regional Raceway is proving a great place to kick of the season in the South. We had wild wheel stand�s and 4.7x performance in Stock Suspension. Record setting performance in Real Street and two Outlaw 10.5 cars in the 4.30�s right here in the Jungle. Gotta thank Jason Ruger from VP for the assistance in the track prep there.

Friday and Saturday is the second annual Tomato Nationals at Immokalee Regional Raceway in Immokalee Florida. I will be down there providing updates throughout the race, taking photos and video of the happenings. Please stay tuned to Yellow Bullet and Street Legal TV for news and other happenings. If you are local you better get out there for awesome Florida winter racing.

During a private testing session at SGMP on Friday Gary White, driving the Titan Motorsports ADRL Extreme 10.5 car, ran a series of 4.14-19 passes. I was able to do an interview with Gary in between passes.

Also there was Big Daddy Dwayne Gutridge testing his Outlaw Drag Radial TT Mustang.

Dwayne laid down a nice 7.17 with the board showing 215 MPH, regardless of the questionable mile per hour it's his best run ever, and the race to be the first six second Drag Radial car is in full swing for 2009.

This is the announcement for the 2009 season of Outlaw Radial Tire Championship Series. This year will consist of two points races, the first race will be held at South Georgia Motorsports Park on May 8^th and 9^th and will be called the Boost vs. No Boost Radial Tire Championship. The Outlaw Radial Tire Championship finals will be held at Bradenton Motorsports Park and will be on October 23^rd-25^th2009. In the fast moving nature of the internet I would like to announce that Real Street will be one of the classes also contested in the ORTC series. Real Street is a class designed for stock suspension vehicles and using a 275 series Drag Radial.

Today I am pleased to announce a working relationship with TRZ Motorsports. They have come on board with Devastation Motorsports as a site sponser, and have also provided the shop car with a rear suspension package which includes upper and lower control arms and an anti roll bar. These parts will be installed as soon as time permits along with some other upgrades and we will be documenting the full installation as well as before and after track side video.

The 2009 US Street Nationals will be held on Jan 23-25 at Bradenton Motorsports Park.

Wow it's been a busy lately. Steve Johnsons Induction Solutions came on board last week as a site sponser. Look for some interesting tech things coming soon from this relationship. Steve helped me out on short notice with some parts to get me going for a need2speed.com track event on Sunday. I went to the PRI trade show Friday with my good friend Blair, Troy, and Ray and Steve from Action Auto Machine. The five of us were a bit much for four seats in the truck so Blair was kind enough hand me the key's to the GN. Thanks for everything buddy, including the tow truk ride back home after the alternator pully failure. LOL It was my first time there and that is definitly a 2 day deal if you wanna see and talk to the folks you need to. Saturday I thrashed all day on the car getting it ready to race. I managed a best of 10.21 and will have some more on that soon...

Outlaw Radial Tire Championships Friday Coverage. There was no racing today because of rain. Qualifying is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM Saturday. Todays update features some news from the pits and several new cars.

Wednesday I took a trip down to Bradenton to catch up on what was going on before the Outlaw Radial Tire Championships. I was also there last Friday. Scott is a participant in local Outlaw 10.5 races in Florida and has recently switched to the DOT approved ET Street BIG tire with promising results.

Clint normaly runs the Mafia Motorsports Real Street class at Sunshine Drag Strip and Immokalee Regional Raceway.

I am not sure if you will see these guys at the Bradenton race but this monte yanks the tires HARD.

Sunshine Dragstrip is now considering a 5.50 index class during Wednesday night TNT We need some more sponsers to get things going. I will be covering this with photo and video including driver features and video interviews for those interested in that. if you are interested please email me.

Rules are NHRA tech for safety items and door cars only, besides that it's run what you brung.

Current sponsers are RMP Automotie and Carty Race Cars. Once the sponsers $ is set so we have $500 purse we will set a date.

June 14th was the Immokalee Mafia Motorsports Real Street and Outlaw 10.5 race. I had the chance to ride down with Kris Nelson and check out the action. Big congrats to Mike Stavrinos for repeating in 10.5 and Tom Brown in Real Street for doing the same and AND getting it done with the Mopar. Got the photos up from last Wednesdays TNT. Caught Mr Stoneburg testing out he new cylinder heads. Also big shout out to the folks that were able to return to Heads Up Madness. Word is Pirez ran a nice 4.89 and took home the $$. Devastation Motorsports is pleased to announce that we are moving our photo sales service to a web based platform to make it easier for you to purchase your photos. Currently available in this new format are last Friday and last's night's TNT session. There will be some other features with this new venture including some new products like mugs, mouse pads and puzzles for the kids. Currently there are three Heads Up Madness event DVD's available. Friday Night was the Disasterpeace show at The State Theater with AfterDeath and Shades of Twilight, another fine production by Rich at Maximum Bands. I just finished uploading the photos, kick ass show !! Saturday was the Need2Speed.com Dead Hookers VII. This one I was racing in, so my girlfriend Liz shot some vid, working on that now.

Wow lots of excitement last night at Heads Up Madness, 3 second passes in Open Outlaw, Corky Markwart Doubles up in 6.50 AND Pro Mod. Giant wheelies in Mafia Motorsports Real Street, and sadly a crash as well. Mike Miller crashed after a wheelstand and hitting the guardrail, He is OK besides some bumps and bruises.

Sunshine Dragstrip has also agreed to add the Mafia Motorsports Real Street to the next Heads Up Madness event on May 3rd. The Heads Up Madness at Sunshine Dragstrip was Saturday April 5th and sadly was rained out, but not before a new track record was set in OL 10.5 for MPH with a nice 4.48 pass at 178 MPH by this beautiful twin turbo Corvette.

This past weekend at Club Bourbon Street in New Port Richey Maximum Bands put on the Nightmare Metal Fest I was there taking pics, the Bands included Disasterpeace with Wade Black and Pete Black, and Cage on Friday. Saturday I was there for the later evening part of the weekend show and saw Dirty Black Halo, Avian, and Thirtien X, with special guest apparances by Criss Caffery from Savatage and Zak Stevens from Circle II Circle.

This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Memphis Midsouth Shootout at memphis Motorsports Park with Shannon Wren.

Hey hey it's Superbowl Sunday I'll take the Pats please. Last night was the first Heads Up Madness of 2008, the weather was great and the track was good links to the photos are below, along with the photos from the US Nats on Sunday including the pics of the winners.

I put up a couple of vids from the Tomato Nationals last weekend. This weekend I will be at the US Nationals in Bradenton.

This past weekend I attended the Tomato Nationals at Immokalee Regional Raceway which was a rescheduled date from a rain out in October. This event will be held on the same date in 2009 so mark your calanders now. Vid of the event is currently in production. Pictured below is Shane Stack, Stock Suspension Winner.

Here are the photos and video from the first Mafia Motorsports Real Street race in Immokalee. There was a full 16 car qualified field. With Mike Miller and Brad Schehr at the top respectively. Mike will recieve $100 from Russ Racing Engines for top qualifier. Brad Schehr had top mile per hour. The Yellow duce chevy was DQ'd for improper cylinder heads (18* Chevy) Really looking forward to the next event. Enjoy !

I also want to mention the 2008 Outlaw Radial Tire Championships $15,000 race, October 24-26, 2008, at Bradenton Motorsports Park which was announced just this afternoon. This is the largest purse for Radial Tire cars to date so come on down and bring your "A" game cause you are going to need it.

Mafia Motorsports Real Street had it's first outing on the 29th @ Immokalee with around 25 cars showing up. Several cars were from the NMCA Street Race class. The event was rained out and resheduled for Jan 5th 2008. The rules for this new class are still in development so if you are intersted come out for the next event and bring your car. The class is being developed to bridge the gap between 6.50 and Stock Suspension/Drag Radial and will likely be using a spec tire size 275/15 drag radial. ET range around 5.60 1/8 mile.

Okay big update today, got vids of Drag Radial and 10.5 from the Snowbirds, including record setting runs in Drag Radial by Tony Ridenour with 7.66 @ 184, thats the quickest pass for a nitrous car in the 1/4. Not be outdone Troy Pirez resets the 1/8 record with a 4.91 @ 147 and winning the last Heads Up Madness at Sunshine this year in the process. Saturday was the second day of Sunshine Dragstrip's Big Turkey Bracket Bash which I attended and took photos.

Attended a private track rental at Bradenton Wednesday with Donald Long and the Good Timers crew. Tony Ridenour ran a 4.96 @ 145 in his Drag Radial 4th gen Camaro on Nitrous. That makes it the second 4 second 1/8th mile car in the country. Check out the vids.

I went to BMP Friday night with some friends to the club1320 thing, and Saturday Night Showdown to meet with TA Dave and pick up some new to me wheels. Of course I filmed some of the HOT action. Saturday a mustang seriously oiled the track after a big wheelie. Did I mention the Supra meet going on Saturday ??

Was at Sunshine last night for the test n tune and filmed some of the action. The track was hooking up and the weather was great. There were a few near crashes some wheelies. I want to give a shout out to BryanK for his new personal best and one sweet 69 camaro.

Just a quick update today regarding some recent concert's. October 25th I attended a VooDoo Glow Skulls show at Garage Bar in St. Pete with Frances from the Dunedin Free Press for a review. Had some fun and took some pics of course. Last night I was at Club Bourbon Street in New Port Richey to shoot the show for Wade Black of Disasterpeace, who was the opener for Wizard of OZZ.

Halloween I spent a few hours at Sunshine Dragstrip hanging out and filming some cars and bikes. I put a video up of our fellow Mafia Motorsports member Dave Vince. Will be working on more vids and photos over the weekend. After the track fun I decided to head over to the Martini Club in Dunedin for some good tunes with my buds The Stick Martin Show Check out the photos

The Orlando World Street Nationals was held October 26-28 and was called for rain on Monday the 29th. I was there Sunday hanging out and taking some photos and video between the rain.
